I've got my eyes on a Vortex Viper 4-16×56 HS BDC scope from rifle craft. Has anyone got or used Vortex scopes with Archer add on and what are they like out in the field. I may add the Archer will be second hand from Starlight when they have a decent model grade D or C in stock, hopefully not to long to a wait. deputy dog Posted February 24, 2016 Author Report Share Posted February 24, 2016 Won't ever spend £1400 on ebay bud. Don't mind a few quid on odd bits as if you get ripped it's not a great loss. But £1.4k is a fair bit to risk. I'll be getting it from Starlight as they come with 2 year guarantee which is piece of mind. Thanks anyways though. al4x Posted February 25, 2016 Report Share Posted February 25, 2016 Not tried a vortex but I do use one with a Swarovski z6i, it's the least recommended scope but with an nm800 good to 200 yards to shoot. mrcunnie Posted February 25, 2016 Report Share Posted February 25, 2016 I've used a archer for a few years now, swop it between three rifles, all with mamba lites on, you can clearly see upto 200yds + no problem, also have a leupold and that's just as good. I see that the Archer on the bay didn't sell because at £1400 it didn't reach the reserve price. If you think that it was too much it don't look like there is much choice of alternative available. The archer has a doubler so you would start minimum 12 mag. My z6 is 5-30 and starting at that doubled is ok but you accept the higher magnification the lower the light transmission. The best would be a 2-12 or something like that.
