Description

AYA 400E, 12 Bore, Boxlock, Extractor, Double Triggers.

Manufactured 1963 and in excellent condition.

Colour case hardened boxlock action retaining almost all it's original colour.

The 400E appears to be an early version of the No.3 with better wood.

Well balanced 28" fixed choke barrels - Choked half and full.

Automatic safety catch, nicely scroll engraved.

Non ejector, which can often be better than chucking cartridges all over the place when game shooting.

The barrels are still very nicely blued with hardly any noticeable marks at all.

There is a tiny pin sized ding on the outside of one barrel but that's it.

The bores look like new and I don't think it has ever had much use.

Nicely finished one piece straight hand stock with a matching slim game style forend with push rod release catch that works perfectly.

The woodwork is all excellent apart from a small piece missing from the front side edge of the forend which can be seen in the pictures but is hardly noticeable and would be easy to restore if you felt the need.

I have just had the top lever spring replaced at a cost of £50 and it has only shot 20 cartridges since.

Beautiful example of this lightweight game gun.

More pictures available upon request.

Only selling as I bought an AYA No.2 sidelock so it's no longer being used.

In an effort to sort out the confusion I suggest you ring Edward King at A.S.I. of Snape.

He is a very nice chap and his company imported and still import AYA shotguns, he will be able to tell you for certain what it is.

If you speak with him have the gun in front of you and the serial number easily visible as he will need to ask questions to enable him to identify it for you.

Good luck with your sale.

Tony.

Thanks Tony, I might do that tomorrow when I'm off work.

AYA have said it's a 400E according to their records so I guess that is going to be right.

looks like a Yeoman to me not enough engraving for a 400e

It is a 400e. I know this as i have one for sale, it has the same engraving. See pictures in link below. It was identified by Aya as a 400e. I emailed them the serial number when I bought mine as I did not know anything about the gun. Aya told me the model and year of manufacture but that is all they could tell me.
