No BASC will not be cut out of future discussions on firearms licencing

A bit more info here http://basc.org.uk/blog/press-releases/latest-news/basc-responds-to-plans-for-change-in-firearms-laws/

David

Yeah but the wording gives the home secretary the power to cut BASC out of decision making does it not? We can't go on a promise. At least the petition will force parliament to respond and give us clarification on this issue.

For all of the good efforts of the orgs in putting the case for the shooter,We always seem to be on the back foot defending situations put in place by others. The orgs may be in consultation with the met police on a six monthly basis but surely this is far to low a level to be in consultation. Why aren't proposals being put forward to relax the purchase of All sorts of ammunition? Several times on here shooters (mainly in Wales) have queried why their mate who has a 308 can't buy EG 243 ammunition for them and transfer it to their ticket on return to avoid having to travel long distances in person. If you have a ticket and can be trusted then why restrict what you can buy. It's like saying that you can drive a Range Rover but you can't drive a mini.

The orgs should be on the front foot And making the proposals and not reacting to the proposals made by others that aren't interested in shooting. Why not try to organise some sort of mass online protest direct to the top of the tree rather than grovelling around at low level.

who is it that is setting the agenda for any proposed changes at the planning stages? If it is civil servants that are setting the proposals, who monitors them and on what grounds are proposals advanced?

. Second this. List of proposal from us: 10 year licence, what else?

what else?

RFD's to administer 1 for 1 variations. The current system is ludicrously nonsensical and benefits no one.

Licensing of the person rather than the gun; aka SGC type licensing. There is no logic and nothing to be gained either by the shooter nor the general public by the FAC system.
