Covers.

Pretty much anything Eva Cassidy covered was better than the original. Fields of Gold (sting) and Somewhere over the Rainbow (Judy Garland ) and Time after time (Cindy Lauper ) spring to mind.

Yeah, think I'd have to agree with that.

Normally I find covers not up to the original. These are the exceptions:-

Everlasting Love - Love Affair.

Beggin' - Timebox.

Sun ain't gonna shine anymore - Walker Brothers.

I say a little prayer - Aretha Franklin.

My Girl - Otis Redding, although the Temptations version was brilliant.

Wishing on a Star - Paul Weller.

I'm hook on this guy's covers at the moment.Since retiring from shooting I've dusted the cobwebs off the old guitar and the wife's threatening to throw me out if I touch anything other than the accoustic.

I'm a big fan of covers. The streaming services make them dead easy to find as well (Spotify etc).

The Dermot O'Leary Saturday sessions albums have a good few ones, one of my favourites being Gomez' cover of Wichita Lineman.

Saying that The Killers do a great version of Ruby Don't take your love...
