Hendrix's rifle
So, earlier on today I went up to mmamonster on here to look at a CZ 452 17hmr. After a couple of rounds I was happy with it so sorted the paperwork and off I went. Straight to leek shooting supplies! 150 rounds of 17g hornady vmax and I was on my merry way. Took it out around 11pm after a clean and put the scope on. 13 shots to zero (was miles out ) and a few shots at different ranges and positions to get a bit of a feel for it. Mounted night vision and off I went, first rabbit was around 70 yards away. Pulled the trigger and down she went. First kill with the hmr and what a noise! Good clean head shot and what a mess they make! First rabbit in the bag, on to the second. Walked around 50 yards from the previous one to see another couple sitting there. Again, in the crosshairs, pulled the trigger and down it went, happy days 👍 got in to a position next to a big oak and sat down to have a smoke. Lit my fag and out pops one at 120 yards away (range finder) BOOM. Heart shot, dropped like a brick. This was followed up by a couple more. Had 5 in total with 6 rounds. On of them ducked when I pulled the trigger Second shot got him. It is now 3:50am so time for bed! Mrs isn't well and wasn't I pressed when I disappeared out shooting.... She knew it was coming though Cheers mmamonster 👍 http://s1268.photobucket.com/user/bwbiker95/media/Mobile%20Uploads/WP_20160508_00_31_28_Pro_zpstnvycuj6.jpg.html?sort=1&o=5 http://s1268.photobucket.com/user/bwbiker95/media/Mobile%20Uploads/WP_20160508_00_31_28_Pro_zpstnvycuj6.jpg.html?sort=1&o=5 That one is a bit gory, be warned That bush was a bit sharp... http://s1268.photobucket.com/user/bwbiker95/media/Mobile%20Uploads/WP_20160508_00_31_28_Pro_zpstnvycuj6.jpg.html?sort=1&o=5 http://s1268.photobucket.com/user/bwbiker95/media/Mobile%20Uploads/WP_20160508_00_31_28_Pro_zpstnvycuj6.jpg.html?sort=1&o=5 I only kept 3 as unfortunately one was covered in mites and the other appeared to be in early stages of mixy which I realised when I was gutting it. Thanks for reading folks 👍
belly47
I got my latest hmr last Saturday and been out most days since with it, Sounds like you're enjoying yours too!
Hendrix's rifle
Definitely am! The thing I noticed though was stopping myself from holding over/under. On a .22 air rifle 40 yards is 3 mildots, on this its pretty much point blank. Such an easy rifle to shoot

Such an easy rifle to shoot Exactly the same chain of thought ive been having With my .22lr there is much more thought needed with regards to range and bullet drop. 1 mil dot hold over on my 22 (zeroed at 50 yards) would be spot on for a 75 yard shot. 1 mil dot on the hmr would be spot on for 190 yards. I love shooting both but hmr is certainly point and shoot at the general distance I shoot at on my permissions. The .22 requires a little more from the user to get the accuracy your quarry deserves
Hendrix's rifle
I'm learning not to hold over/under as much. Out of interest, what do you zero at?

belly47
I'm learning not to hold over/under as much. Out of interest, what do you zero at? I zero at 50 yards with the hmr as it's the same point of impact as 100. I use the strelok ballistic app as a guide and confirm it in the field. It's spot on to be fair, it's the same with my .22lr, well worth downloading

Entering the ballistics in to it I thought 50 yards would also be a good start. Cheers 👍
ShootingEgg
Been out three times this week with the HMR and took aor rifle along as some parts of perm arent fac suitable. Ghe noise and accuracy of the HMR when zero'd is brilliant, can confidently hit 120-150yrd shots on one perm, and the bunnies just drop... Glad you are enjoying it, keep on enjoying!!!
