norfolk dumpling
Anyone know what is going on here? Guns are handguns, shotguns and 'long barrelled' guns (rifles?). Michael Cook is the householder. Not a mate of Buckland is he? No mention of ammo.

secretagentmole
Yes but are the hand guns and rifles ones which are banned? There are exemptions for some antiques and an 18th century duelling pistol is a hand gun!

fortune
Why is it that arrested is a given that the person is guilty or they got someone for xyz. Arrested is meaningless. Charged with xyz is a bit different. The bloke might just be a collector with a load off replicas, antiques and a load of toys.

pinfireman
Looking at the photographs of Arnolds collection, it does appear at first glance that a large proportion of them appear to be air pistols? We know that when it suits them, and they are touting for publicity, the police determine that a deactivated, an air weapon, and antiques quickly fall under the heading of "deadly firearms".... I wonder how many were actually section 1 or prohibited working firearms? That would not excuse this idiot, but it would impart a degree of accuracy. He's not an idiot until proved one in court , which he hasn't yet .
norfolk dumpling
I understand, following Buckland/Suffolk councillor case (400+ guns & thousands of rounds of ammo) local police were taken to task for letting such a build up of armoury occur so this could be a lead from that or simply a collector who may be used as an example of how good police are. He's probably got a couple of old guns where there may be doubt over availability of ammo and plod are blowing this up out of all proportion. But on the other hand police put in a huge team for best part of a week so who knows?

Gordon R
The firearms offence was 5 years ago. Why are you reporting sexual abuse on a shooting forum?
hodge911
Police are stuck between a rock and a hard place at times ... We as legal owners want them to do their jobs CORRECTLY and then there's Joe public/ antis asking why are they issuing certificates in such numbers ... And the icing on the bitter cake is the media who blow the majority of stories out of all proportion to suite their needs .. a story comes to mind where the press said a guy was in possession of an arsenal of illegal weapons which when all came to light were in fact all legally held air rifles and pistols ... Yes there are people who buy / sell / accumulate firearms illegally . And deserve the full weight of the law to brought against them . But as all too often the press get hold of an incident put 2 and 2 together and come up with 6 before ALL THE FACTS are known .
