Yes I got mine through NTL 128k rather than 512 but it is ample for me. Would probably have gone for BT ADSL but its not available in my area yet. I am in the comms business and its a sad state of affairs when there's only really BT that are any good and even they are at times worse than hopeless. :D

I got the Freeserve version.

All the kit arrived OK, you have to put a "filter" in each telephone extension in the house, this also means that you can use your computer from every extension.

I loaded the CD last night and have been enjoying the benefit since.

Previously my "bps" was 48,000 to 50,000, on busy nights it fell to 46,666.

Now its 576,000.

Basically, everything is 11+ times faster.

Downloads, uploads, surfing, its all easier and FAST.

At less than £10 per week ,I think its good value, if you use your computer a few hours a day.

Strongly recommended. :D

When you sign up with Freeserve Broadband online, they check your post code to ensure that your area telephone service is able to accept Broadband.

If it isn,t , then obviously they don,t proceed.

Fortunately, mine was OK.

Please excuse me for 5 seconds............I am just going to download War & Peace. :D

Back again, that didn,t take as long as I thought. :( :D

Just having a look at the very early posts and this one caught my eye....Broadband speeds of 576k bps for £40 a month.

How times have moved on!

And France- well our part anyway.

All the Mrs did was moan at the speed for the last three weeks we were there.

It's still only dial up where we are, but they have promised Fibre- only problem is they have promised it for the last 5 years.

Arrived back in the Uk and boy is this Virgin service speedy- can buy so much more, quicker on fleabay :-)
