grahamch
Am buying either a BSA Ultra or Scorpion SE and was wondering how long it would take to charge either with a good quality hand pump. Any advice would be welcome. I dont want to go down the diving bottle route. Thanks
psycho
Did it once on an ultra then bought a bottle.. In fact in the end I went the other way sold all my PCPs and spent the money for bottles on making a highly tuned springer Highly tuned springer = satisfaction. In the sanitised world of pcps
oldypigeonpopper
hello, you should be able to pump those rifles ok just make sure there is air in tube first, should do 15/20 pumps to max fill and do not let it get below 50 bar and try keep topped up is better than a long fill
shootgun
The main advantege of the bottle over pump is you're not going to catch any moisture in the gun bottle, thus avoiding corossion in the long run. Not to mention is much quicker to fill from the bottle. A 300 bar 3 litre is more than enough for a start.
n&h
As said above just keep them topped up. Recently gone down the pcp and handpump route. Its only a few minutes work.
secretagentmole
If you use a hand pump properly, no problems! http://www.pyramydair.com/article/Using_a_hand_pump_May_2006/

chrisjpainter
Sounds like worthwhile exercise. haha yeah it can be. I used to use a foot pump. Ones that remove the moisture are perfectly fine to use. I was fine doing an AA S510 then i bought a Daystate Air Wolf with a 500cc bottle. That nigh on killed me with a pump! Large capacity air rifles are just too much effort, but small ones like Ultras are ideal for foot pumps. It's certainly a lot cheaper than having to lay out for a dive bottle
