wymberley
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2016/jun/20/senate-gun-control-vote-orlando-shooting Seems the Republicans put forward two options as did the Democrats. They then voted on all four with the vote going on party lines with the upshot that the opposing party defeated each of the other's proposals. So, the NRA wins again. robbiep
One of the choices actually had the support of the NRA. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-36563337 Though whether they felt it likely that it would be rejected (so safe for them to be seen to be 'doing something' and supporting some restrictions, while knowing such a bill was never going to get through) is another matter
malkiserow
The interesting other fact that stood out to me was that the USA has 1 million citizens on its terrorism watch list. How many does the UK have on its watch list ?
Dave-G
I'm thinking NRA members have seen other countries take a mile when an inch has been offered so they aren't up for allowing a slippery slope for some governments to nibble away at. saddler
NOT a gun related issue 100% terrorism - so new laws will have no impact Watch the speech by ex-DHS employee Philip Haney on YouTube The White House KNEW that the people involved in ALL the recent attacks have a common connection before the attacks took place & ordered a list of 300 suspected terrorists to be scrubbed from the records....7 of the known 300 are the ones that carried out the last few shootings/bomb attacks

TONY R
The Americans have freedom money constitution all the things we don’t have here. They are united in their determination to protect their right to gun ownership and uphold their constitutional rights. Shooters over here cant decide on anything never mind show true unity, we need the uk shooting equivalent of Germany BISMARCK to unify us as he did the warring states in Germany. As we are now no ones singing from the same hymn sheet, we are headed for oblivion unless there is genuine change in the apathy so rife in uk shooters today. buze
The interesting other fact that stood out to me was that the USA has 1 million citizens on its terrorism watch list. How many does the UK have on its watch list ? Approximately 64.1 millions, give or take. With all the bypass the governement has decreed to give completely unmonitored access to /everything/ on everyone, anytime, we're now fully safe!
