Nick_MSM
Quick question as I have read conflicting reports. I am about to apply for my first shotgun certificate. I would like to keep the gun at my father's address (locked up of course and the key in my possession only). Is this allowed? I am going to fill the forms in tomorrow and wanted to be sure in case I need to review my plans.
subsonicnat
I would think that could be tricky,as your father presumably does Not have one. Why does your spouse not like guns in the house.?. Access would be problem for a start.. Would view it with a tick in the wrong box I think.!.
Nick_MSM
Thanks - My wife just isn't keen on guns in general really with children in the house. My father doesn't have a SGC - I'll have to talk to her again by the sounds of it. Edited June 22, 2016 by Nick_MSM
roadkill
but the guns will be in a locked cabinet out of sight

Nick_MSM
If the gun is locked in the cabinet when not in use, how can it harm the kids? I completely agree, she's just a bit funny with the idea. I am sure it can be worked around though - particularly if it's going to be an issue storing at my father's. Mentalmac
I do this arrangement, as I explained to the FEO that the security is better at my parents than at mine (rented too) Also, its on route to my perm going by my parents. The firearms team have always been fine with this - when I had my interview my dad was in the house and the FEO did just ask if he was cool with it all and that he certainly won't have access to keys etc... And we are all good.
roadkill
the best thing you can do before filling out forms is to contact your feo and ask them where they stand on the matter.....
Nick_MSM
Thanks, I was about to say maybe I should contact my FEO first. To be honest, the security is better at my father's house - not to mention his walls are about 2ft thick! Much better to bolt the cabinet to. I'll give them a call and see what they suggest. Nick_MSM
My main concern is where to store a cabinet in my house, it's a new build and the walls aren't of the best quality and space is limited. My father's house is literally 90 seconds away and would be far more suitable. I'll give them a call and see what they suggest.
Gordon R
1. Check with FEO 2. If he / she is not keen - divorce.
Dannyboy220
Shouldn't be a problem. Kent are fine with this. I will be moving soon to another house that we will be refurb ing. There will be no roof for a while so security will be an issue. Already cleared it that the guns can go to my parents house.
Nick_MSM
Spoken to my friendly FEO who confirmed it is okay (couple of minor points that are fine by me), so application's going in the post asap!
