Helping the Farmer

alright lads

I'm gonna order myself a batch of Shooting cards for when I go door knocking soon to try and get some permissions.

I was just wondering , does anyone offer to help the farmer in other ways... Nothing rude...

No but things like if he needs a hand fixing a fence one day or whatever. Helping him out might gain his trust? Also has anyone ever been asked to help with say deterring poachers or thiefs? Cause surely if potential theifs scout the area and see someone walking/ driving around the farm regularly at night as well as day they might be put off more. Or do you lot just offer purely vermin control?

I have lots of people asking for shooting permission, some have offered help in many forms to me, plumbing, sparkie stuff etc

It doesn't really make me decide either way as I've got my trusted clan of guns for the land. That'll be your problem, getting 'in', but don't give up!

There are lots of topics on this, I've said many a time, don't expect a landowner to roll over and give a stranger access to their land and business, with a gun.

Subtlety is the way forward.

good luck with finding anything, were abouts you from, and have you got sgc/fac

Sorry mate been for an Indians ..

From Northumberland, Bedlington to be Precise. I've got my SGC, not FAC yet but will apply for it when the right land presents itself!

I have one farm to go on but it's only 45 acres and in the middle of being turned into an Equestrain. So the shootings limited.

My dad used to shoot years ago and had loads of land (he's a retired cop) and got a lot of land through work. But he gave shooting up a few years ago so obviously the land he had is no more, so I've got to start from scratch. All part of the fun tho ey

Could you not ask your dad for his old contacts, go see them and explain who you are?

Yeah I'm gonna go too his old places. But it's been so long there will more than likely be new people shooting the land now & obviously they won't let some new lad on if they already have people in. But like was previously said I just need to get 'in' with the right people

Not just Steve smiths sometimes weldon has notices.

Or try a bit beating "gadge-it" on here is sometimes after beaters up Morpeth I think. See if he'll give you a bit shooting as payment.
