Cranfield
I have been shooting pigeons and corvids over laid barley (actually its areas of laid black grass, that has taken the barley with it) this week and had some good days. I should add that this barley is well turned, without many green ears about. Apart from pigeons and corvids there have been an encouraging number of what must be mallard family groups coming into the barley. Its usual to see the ducks on harvested barley stubble, but I have never seen so many on laid crop. Hopefully, these early birds will mean second broods about as well. AberFowl
There's a field of arable silage just by me and I have spent some time watching a tidy number of mallard dropping in for a feed on a big flattened area, great to see some young strong birds about! Konnie
Once they get started they are like little combines, nice to see though.
