After doing more diligence I deceided to get a refund on the A400 Excel I bought a couple of weeks ago. I loved the gun but when spending £1400 on something you want to ensure it is built to last and I'm not sure it is. I'm now on the look out for an auto which will fit my height and monkey like limbs.

This they are super reliable, And built to take abuse not the lightest semi auto out there but have the ergonomics of orat least very similar to a Remington 1100 one of the best factory fitting semi autos ever made.

Baikals manualy adjustable gas system is simple dependable and it realy works well, the factory setting is easy to return to if adjusted up or down, and all the MP153s i have encountered have been very consistent on the ammo they will cycle which in its self is testiment enough to the design and quality control of these guns.

their fit and finnish is military grade rather than best vgun standards, the mettal finnishing is not the deep lustre you will get on some guns, but it is acceptable given the guns price point and no way ship shod in any way.

The true threads chosen by IZH to use in their guns is not as common as some choke systems and chokes although available are overlooked by some popular choke makers most notable of these being Briley.

In my opi nion the closes competitor to the MP153c is the more expensive SX3 this gun is a basic but functional semi auto ideal for wildfowling, but by comparison its lighter weigh less rugged cconstruction and the notorious gas piston spring failiures associated with all the Browning winchester range semis that use this gas piston is a negative mark for this gun,

THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS TO SX3S ETC THEY BREAK THE PISTON SPRING LIKE THIS.

THE ABOVE PISTON IS FROM A GOLD BUT THEY ALL RUN BASICLY THE SAME SET UP AND THE SAME ISSUE KEEPS CROPING UP.

o n the other hand the MP153s lack of any real notable faults are in my view an eassy recomendation for a one stop wildfowling 3.5 inch semi auto.

The Baikal MP153 realy will take the hard yards withy ease, they are strong in construction heavy bolt log strong barrel extention and carier frame the gas system is well designed as i mentioned previously and this helps make the gun an ideal all round semi auto.

You can not ignore the Hatsan Escort in these discussions either i feel, the quality control on these has shot up with this latest model extreme and the earlier mk 2s too, the mk1s were a little hit and miss re quality, some working faultlessly for decades some having issues down to less than stellar production standards and assembley checks at the factory, but the latter guns they realy got their act together now.

But like rob i recomend the MP153 its not to everyones tastes, but i would pick it over anything else for wildfowling esspecialy they just take it year in year out and i never ever give survival or reliability a second thought, its that confidence inspiring it just never fails Not ever.
