What happened to the "o"ring.

i new it came from the trigger assembly/block...but didnt know where...so i assembled everything i knew...and what was left over was.............

  • a hole
  • a pin
  • a c clip
  • and a fat o ring

and i could see it would work as a rebound buffer on what is called the beartrap................

well i put it together...and i dry fired it with the tap open so it would buffer the piston and burn off any oil residue's.....and that sounded fine ...trigger light and crisp with just a bit of creep which i like...i can adjust both to get what i like...it didnt go twang ..sort of a reasonable spring noise...so i thought i would put a pellet thro it..........

now bear in mind the last air rifle i owned was in the late 1960's..............................they ....to say the least have improved since then......

so i loaded it up...and thought...hhmmmm where is safe.....oh i know the shed wall its all wood and will imbed itself in it or bounce back and hit me in the gonads.........sooo aim (sort of)......GODTHUNK.........it went to my surprice straight thro the shed planks 2 of them....thro my hedge acrass the road and hit fat sarahs wall

..............JESUS CHRIST..................sum bloody weapon this is.....serious bit of kit...............so i will finish the stock and start looking for a nice 2nd hand scope which is a bit better than the one i have now....also think i will get some sling hooks and a sling.......im going to enjoy this....

Need pics of fat sarah :lol::lol:

starting to "work" the stock up now..........and what a job that is Beech is a PIG to stain...first i "washed" it over with the mixed stain (oil based)..then i could see the areas that were not taking stain...so i used a hot air stripped to open up the dense grain and the stained that area...and kept on doing that for most of yesterday...................its starting to even up now,,,so i fill finish staining it with wire wool...then leave it to dry...and start linseed oiling it to seal it ..and bring out the "bloom" and colour

(dont use this method on a laminated stock...it will melt the glue and come apart)

only use this method on a beech stock...

sooner or later i will be looking for a better scope...the one fitted to the air rifle is a Nico Sterling TIARA 4x28...it is clear and working ..but i would like something with a wider field of view and better magnification...not bothered with type of reticule "T" or "cross" fine

late last night in the shed....i was still feeding it stain....and then it started to refuse....so i left it overnight to start drying out and nearly all day today.........then i started to feed it linseed oil with a little stain mixed in...and it was and still is sucking it up....by the end of tomorrow it should be slowing down and if it is i will wipe it down and leave it for a couple of days....then a once over with the wire wool and the hardwork starts rubbing a few drops of oil on the heel of your hand into the stock and generate some heat so it nearly burns your hand and i will be doing this over several days until the resin starts to harden and there is no colour on my hand....then it will be put together and intermittantly oil rubbed in to top it up and maintain it...it will proberly be at least a couple of mths before it acheives its full colour.................
