Glenlivet
If your machine is running Vista it might struggle to run 7 and will probably curl up and die if you try to run 10!

CaptainBeaky
You can get win 7 for about £13 online - search for Software Geeks. If you're currently on Vista, don't even think about 10. In fact, even if you're on Windows 8, still don't! Danger-Mouse
I never had any problems with Vista. In certain respects I prefer it to Win 7.
sportsbob
I have three laptops that came with either Vista or 7 and they have all benefited from being upgraded to 10, it appears to me the problems people have is due to a lack of knowledge. srspower
Windows vista is just a rubbish version of win7 hence why ms binned it and brought out win7 so quickly. So it will run fine. Windows 10 has a huge footprint so your computer may struggle to run it. But most if all do not 'upgrade' to win7 you need to backup your work format your c drive and do a clean install with win7 drivers.
