Notice the gushing admiration from the BBC here? A brutal dictator that killed or imprisoned his apponents, a man who banned the internet in private homes and forced his people to live in poverty. Also do you notice how the only Cubans who say they liked him were/are the ones living under his repressive regime? Cubans who escaped that hell hole are now celebrating.

I have no leaning one way or the other but if you go and read up on how Cuba was before the revolution then you will see that Cuba was being run by organised crime gangs from the states and how the Cubans were like plantation slaves. When they snapped and threw out all of the Americans and there cohorts the Americans set up a CIA backed invasion that went all wrong and then used a total blockade that is still happening to this day to a fair degree. It's like the US gets its grubby fingers into everything and then walks away leaving a mess such as Afghanistan, Libia, Syria, Iraq the list is very long. A lot of the ? American population don't trust their own government as highlighted by the recent presidential election. A lot it is smoke and mirrors and the gulability of the people. Look at what Donald trump said in the election and most of that has already been dumped and he isn't even in office yet. I'm sure that If Trump tries to put the squeeze back on Cuba then Putin will try to get back in there again but there's always a lot of horse trading going on in the background that never comes to the surface. Corbin without a gun!

Nothing new about Corbin supporting terrorists.

Revealed: Jeremy Corbyn and John McDonnell's close IRA links ...

www.telegraph.co.uk › News › Politics › Jeremy Corbyn

The true extent of Jeremy Corbyn and John McDonnell’s links with the IRA is revealed by a Telegraph investigation.

It can be disclosed that for seven years running, while the IRA “armed struggle” was at its height, Mr Corbyn attended and spoke at official republican commemorations to honour dead IRA terrorists, IRA “prisoners of war” and the active “soldiers of the IRA.”

The official programme for the 1988 event, held one week after the IRA murdered three British servicemen in the Netherlands, states that “force of arms is the only method capable of bringing about a free and united Socialist Ireland.” Mr Corbyn used the event to attack the Anglo-Irish Agreement, the precursor of the peace process.

Jeremy Corbyn hails the ‘heroism’ of communist dictator Fidel Castro despite ex-Cuban leader’s horrific human rights abuses

The Labour leader was joined by ally Ken Livingstone who labelled Castro 'a beacon of light.

Is this the new thing?

We just post links or headlines alone with nothing else?😂

Absolutely. 😁 You just stick anything up and before you know it, you've got a thread. In fact, having started it, I don't even think I'm going to bother saying a word related to the subject! 😂😂😂

Too busy thinking up my next random piece of news to start another one.

Nature did what the CIA failed to do after how many attempts ?

Maybe now America will continue to lift embargo's and Cuba can pull itself out if financial trouble.

The amount of high value scrap littering the island is a potential gold mine for some one, the mountains of red tape and corruption always put me off. Give it a year and who knows ?

That is what you get in most western countries our new people tend to tow the line and only print or put out on TV/Radio our governments point of view and it seems to me that most people just tend to except what our media tell them but there is little point in trying to tell them that they are only getting one side of the story and not always the correct side.

The last of the old style communists, over the years about 3,800 of his critics/opponents were shot by firing squad. Not big on democracy was our Fidel. Corbyn said he had many happy holidays in Cuba, I though yes, why am I not surprised to hear that.

I can see that things were pretty bad in Cuba Prior to Castro but that doesn't excuse what he did and how he put his own lust for power over the benefit of his own people. After all couldn't you say the same thing about Kim Il Sung?

Are not the leaders and royalty of this country no different. Look back into our history and don't you see that both the kings and queens and parliament of this country slaughtered hundreds if not tens of thousands over hundreds of years to keep their position at the top of the tree. Whether it was Catholics or protests and didn't the church control the public by the trials of anyone who might have been a threat such as the trials of people classed as devil's or witches. It was always said that when the population got to a certain mass that you either had a disease or a war to thin out the population and keep us in the place that we know as our station in life.

Stalin, Mussolini, pol pot, ide Amin, asad, the Greek junta, Gaddafi, the south African government. Hitler, >> the list is endless and isn't just about the figurehead names but an even greater evil has been comited by the foot soldiers of these evil people who did the dirty work quite often with great enthusiasm for their own bent satisfaction or personal gain. Most of the Cuban exiles are jumping up and down so that they can try to get back to reclaim the spoils of the things that they stole from the people of Cuba in the first place. It's all propaganda, smoke and mirrors. Nothing changes its just the faces of the people who are in the driving seat this week. I think that it is called subjugation of the masses such as singling out the ringleaders and hangings. I think that it was Wat Tyler and the peasants revolution where Watt went to talk to the king and a mate of the king lopped off his head and the revolution failed and all of the peasant legged it back home to be sorted out another day. Now if Watt had his head screwed on he would have taken a mate with him tooled up and chopped the king down and the course of history would have taken a different twist. The same as when the Spanish conquistadors led by Cortes chopped out the head of the Aztecs Montezuma and distroyed the national identity and religion and beliefs. I suppose that the first world war was our way of thinning out our masses to a degree where the leaders of our country allowed the flower of a generation to be needlessly slaughtered for no good purpose.

He did bad, he did good. Best healthcare in the Caribbean v slotting opponents. History will have him down as a revolutionary who wasn't as bad as America made out but not as good as communists made out. Hopefully, despite Trumps inane waffling, America can help rather than have immensely childish sanctions. I'm sure plenty of yanks are looking forward to a decent Cuban cigar that isnt illegal

Don't forget shell shocked or just plain overwhelmed soldiers being shot for treason for deserting their posts.

Veterans with issues being ignored, heroes on the streets.

England has always looked after its own, but they have always been the ones behind the lines!!
