Baiting in a fox

Recommended Posts

This has worked for us before,we tied a big old dead smelly chicken onto six foot of string then dragged it around the perimeter of the field ending where we wanted to shoot it,pushed a stick through it and sat back and waited. It was dragged all the way round the field so no matter where the fox came into the field it picked up the smell and followed it

Just peg it out to where you are able to shoot it safe i got a bait point going all the time when we shoot boar or Deer i drop all the left overs including skin and wait a couple of days then check the camers to find out what time they are coming then go and sit in my shed opposit

Don't bait these days but 35 years ago a dead sheep slit open on a piece of clear fell or hillside within range of the Subaru saw the demise of many a fox. Certainly the dragging of the bait is a good idea and personally I would do this behind a vehicle to solve the problem of latent scent of humans being there. Also hang it from a tree branch just out of reach.

Amazing how high a fox can jump.

A high seat is now my method. Let 'em come to me.
