One paddle goose

Had a strange one this morning. Shot a pink that only had one foot. The other leg was perfectly formed bar no webbed foot. It didn't look like it had lost its foot as the stump wasn't scarred or damaged, it was like it had a perfect top end of the knuckle joint with perfect skin all around it but no lower leg /foot.

Guess it was a defect from birth?

I guess that includes up the creek without a paddle and going round in circles and look at me mum, one paddle.

It might be that it got a load of fishing line around its leg or something. Would a large pike do a jaws on its leg when it was a small gosling?

I shot a Widgeon on the wash a few years ago with the same thing , it didn't look like a old injury and in perfect health .

The mate who I was with also has one leg so there was some Micky taking and we named the duck after him presented it to him.
