Good news for all BASC members, complimentary entry to the Game Fair in July!

The Game Fair 2017, the UK’s premier country sports event, is kindly offering COMPLIMENTARY ADMISSION to BASC members to this year’s event at Hatfield House on Friday 28 to Sunday 30 July.

Even better, the complimentary entry is for each of the three days!

To gain entry to the Fair, all you need to do is produce your current BASC membership card, along with photo ID such as a shotgun or firearms certificate, driving licence or passport.

Hatfield House is situated 21 miles north of Central London, just seven miles north of the M25. Alternatively you can let the train take the strain - the entrance to the Fair is opposite Hatfield station, just a 20-minute journey from Kings Cross.

So, make a note in your diary now…and check The Game Fair's website for further details.

The Game Fair is keen to know if you’ll be attending. Register your interest and learn how to bring a guest by texting BASC to 82055

Thanks David and to BASC.

Although a lot of BASC members will be grateful for this offer I am not. It will appeal to, I suppose, the majority of members living central & south of England but not to those who live in the north and upper end of the country

Is it BASC`s intention to make the same offer to its Scottish members to be able to attend either Scone or Moy game fairs, or for that matter any game fairs in the north of England.

I would suggest it something akin to a loss leader from the organisers to increase foot fall.

A three day entry ticket to the gamefair is £52.50 per person.....and there could be multiple thousands of BASC members taking advantage of free entry..........This will add up to a significant amount of money!.......who will foot the bill? BASC members?

From the press release:

James Gower, managing director of The Game Fair, said: “The complimentary offer is open to BASC members on each and every day of The Game Fair, so a member can visit on all three days if they wish.

“BASC is the UK’s largest shooting organisation, so this offer has the potential to attract record numbers of visitors to the event. We are excited that in 2017 The Game Fair will be bigger and better than ever, with a focus on shooting’s positive role in the countryside.

“As the new custodians of The Game Fair, we are keen to see the much-loved event reconnect with its core audience. The gun trade told us they wanted more people who shoot at the event, so we acted. Plus we were keen to not only give something back to our loyal supporters but also entice new visitors.”

There's no pleasing some people!

It's pretty obvious every gamefair up and down the country won't necessarily offer the same complimentary deal....what's not to like and why on earth would basc be footing the bill!?

Entry tickets aren't the only expected source of income from each visitor, are they!!

It's a nice offer. Everyone benefits. BASC members and the organisers. A magazine with a proven circulation of 100,000 per edition will find advertising easier to obtain than one with just 10,000. Just as a game fair with heads through the turnstiles numbering x plus 140,000 or a percentage thereof in 2017 will find stands far easier to let in 2018 (or whenever) than those which only managed to attract x.

Lordy, Lordy..........there's no pleasing some folk eh!

Here is an offer of free entry to the game fair if you are a member of BASC.

How much simpler could this be - member of BASC, prove it, get in for free! Happy Days!

Do BASC organise the game fair? NO

Do BASC chose where the game fair is held? NO

Do BASC subsidise the game fair? NO

Do BASC profit from the game fair? NO

etc, etc, etc,

I merely asked a question and asked for clarification! As the concession was made to BASC members not CA nor GWCT nor NGO nor anyone else, And on the basis of "there is no such thing as a free dinner" I wondered who was footing the bill? And whether it was BASC? and if so was it out of the associations capital funds, which I assume are the property of the membership? Because If it was BASC? members would indirectly be paying for entry anyway!

I then asked if BASC wasn't paying fir it? then who was? David BASC failed to answer, though Christopher Graffius subsequently did so (via a previously undisclosed part of the press release from the game fair organisation) in posting #10.

So it appears we (BASC members) can fill our boots?

It could just be that the Trade in general realise that shooting is under threat and BASC is our best hope of protecting it ! So giving free admission to members may just encourage more people to join said Org ,thus strengthening the voice .

A good gesture whatever the background and should be applauded.
