Elmer Fudd.
I know spring piston rifles can be tough on scopes so any suggestions would be most welcome. It's to go on a Webley Tracker side lever, Thanks
manthing
Hawke are rated for boingers and as a company have a good customer feedback reputation. Just make sure the scope you're looking at is rated for spring airguns.
Fisheruk
And also make sure it has a stop lug/screw.
manthing
Correct, make sure the mounts have an arrestor pin, if there is a recess in the top of the action for it. My 97K is very smooth but I only use mounts with a pin, Hawke or Sportsmatch normally.
old man
Hawke with an etched glass reticle on arrester pin mounts.
suburban shooter
Hawke Airmax designed for air rifles can cope with springers and rated for firearms as well.
davelid
+1 I had that scope on pcp and springer loved it
Walker570
Just ordered a Hawke AMX 1R for my TX200. I have six other Hawke scopes and only had one problem after lots of use for close to 15yrs. Deben did a replacement discount for me on that one, hence the AMX 1R
UKPoacher
The thread title made me smile. I used to have a 'springer proof' scope but not they type you mean. My springer spaniel was a sod for treading all over the gun if it was laid down. She seemed unwittingly attracted to the gun whenever I put it down at the side of me. And she has paws like a shire horse. In the end I had to put it up, i.e. butt on the ground, laid over my shoulder whenever I was waiting for the squirrels to come in. She's the same with fishing rods. On the rest no problem, but if I lay one on the floor she'll cross four counties to walk all over it. roostshooter1
no airgun will destroy a scope that's just a myth I have had hw80 air guns at 35ftlb with cheap 3-9-40 scopes on and had no issues for years I have a friend with a 308 and he uses a cheap 3-9-50 scope and has shot hundreds of deer and hundreds of rounds at targets and the scope has never missed a beat
zipdog
no airgun will destroy a scope that's just a myth I have had hw80 air guns at 35ftlb with cheap 3-9-40 scopes on and had no issues for years I have a friend with a 308 and he uses a cheap 3-9-50 scope and has shot hundreds of deer and hundreds of rounds at targets and the scope has never missed a beat Im not knocking your opinion however I personally would never buy a second hand scope if I knew it had been on a spring airgun. Iv seen the results from two identical scopes, one I put on my airgun the other on 22 rf. I will let you guess which one is still going strong! steve_b_wales
On the other hand, I am using a Nikko Sterling Mountmaster on my Ruger .204 with no problems. The recoil is very low though.
Walker570
I think it is all down to the 'springer' and how cheaply made that is. I have a TX200 and that hardly moves when fired. It is heavy though. I have just put a Hawke AMX IR on it but for the last seven months and probably close to a hundred shots I have had just ordinary scopes on it, with no problem. The ordinary scopes can now go back on my vermin/deer rifles.
Hendrix's rifle
My old smk smashed a hawke panorama I think it was. Shattered the glass in the eye piece and upon removal it fell in to the crosshair and broke that aswell -.-
manthing
A springer is a lot harder on scope than a powder burner, back and forth reverberating multiple times and then there's the twisting. Not had any trouble with Hawke, NS or Tasco but I only buy scopes rated for springers.
Elmer Fudd.
Thankyou for all your replies. It seems that Hawke is the recommended way to go for most of you. I've had all sorts on various PCP's, but the Tracker is the first springer I've owned since a BSA Meteor as a lad more years ago than I care to remember.
