magnetic stick on high ribs

Not tried the add on high ribs, if you get one, you will have to add some "packing" to the comb as well.

Have you tried a specialised trap gun, might be worth it before you commit.

My son uses a raised rib Trap gun for sporting and is very happy with the sight picture.

Just how stick on are they as I tried a magnetic fiber optic bead when the front lip was broken and it kept sliding down until it came off more than once.

Would imagine a carbon fiber rib raiser stick on bonded by 3m would be a good thing.

I'd try taping a price of plastic or blackened wood to my rib first to see how it suited me before going all out and buying one.

It's going to be an out and out clay gun so unless lead is banned it won't have steel put through it, although it would possible be a new excuse in my arsenal ;) I would of hit it but the magnetic pull made me miss !!

I always without fail take the Michael out of anyone on a game shoot not using the correct traditional sxs or I do allow an o/u in 20g to go unnoticed , can you imagine the comments if I took a 32" high rib trap gun with colour banded extended chokes and an adjustable rib and comb, I just don't think I could live with the shame lol

thats what im doing now figgy, ive found a plastic tent peg of all things that is 30mm high and flat on one side, just sighting it in the garden it feels really good, just need to get on some clays

Put a shout out to try one,or a few, goto a demo day, ceasar guerini do a big selection of different guns with different heights.

I have had 2, a CG summit with the tall rib,and a K80 Prorib, liked them both at the time but they offered me no benefit so went back to normal.

Struggling a bit with my moderated 20 gauge Investerarm over under. The moderator is large and full length. Thinking a rib could help. Only a normal height one, I'm not into the high ones. Guess I should check what the moderator is made of, may not be magnetic ? Anyone tried this though?

Getthegat have you seen a ribless shotgun, they have a short rib over the breech and a bead on the muzzle. You may get away with the same type of set up.  A short piece of plastic or a narrow file sprayed and bonded on if you prefer that look.

Never really understood the high rib fad to get your head in a more upright position as mounting the gun higher in your shoulder acheives this. If you want even more height adjustable butt pad can give you over an inch without altering the rib.

Mag ribs are designed to work on flat surfaces not a round moderator

figgy, if you mount the gun higher in your shoulder, you will just wallop yourself in the cheek and also see less rib as you could be looking straight into the back of the block, the idea of a high rib is that it is used with a high comb gun, I put my mag rib on my sporter and just ended up with a bruised jaw as the stock was then too low

Figgy, that sounds like a DIY quick try tip. Cheers. I'm sure I can find something in the workshop to suit. I want to pull my eyes to a central point. The moderator being wide is a little off putting and I personally find it shoots low as well. I tried raising the comb, but that just gave me a view of more of the moderator; didn't like that. Let you know how I get on.

Sishyops I’m talking about less than an inch higher in your shoulder pocket and lifting your head to suit.  I’ve done it many times when my necks stiff never once looked at the back of the action. I have however found high rib guns very easy to can’t over throwing the bottom barrel way our.

Some people have a habit of mounting the gun low in the shoulder nearly in the armpit and never get a good sight picture. If the gun fits you between the comb and rib but you just want a more head up position mounting it higher in your shoulder achieves this.

I find it hard to see how adding an elevated rib onto an existing gun will ever fit properly unless the stock is altered by a similar amount.  If the eye pupil is raised to align with a higher rib (as it must be), the comb will be far too low on the face - and it will be difficult to achieve a consistent mount.  I can fully see that a gun built with an elevated rib may suit some people, but I can't see how this can be added as an afterthought without radically changing the stock?
