POSITIVE input ventilation systems

Anybody have any experience with these? I've got a 1930's house with huge air brick type holes in all the bedrooms where my heat escapes and want to block them in, clearly they were put there for a reason and I'm assuming it's to prevent damp and condensation? So if I remove them and fit a piv system would this suffice? The part that I can't get my head around is that it "recovers lost heat from the loft area", my loft is like the freezer at Iceland on a good day and pumping freezing air back in doesn't seem like it's going to help make my home warmer?

Have fitted a system and it works well - spreads the heat through the house as well.

Although the loft is cold it is not as cold as outside - when you block the vents leave a small vent - the positive input needs to go somewhere- also have the trickle vents on the downstairs windows open a crack.

The input levels are relatively small but it pressurizes the house and yes you do need to heat a small amount more but this allows for better moisture pick up.

We started fitting similar systems about ten years ago and they work well.
