I'm interested in these two rifles.

Bit of help required please. As a long time shooter, clays, now only, I have decided to buy an air rifle for a bit of Summer recreation.

Not wanting a full blown PCP kit, my eyes fell on the Walther LGV and the Walther Century.

Threading through the various reviews, I was pleasantly pleased with what I read except that the Century was found to be, in more than one case,

giving only around 8 ft lbs out of the box. I havn't come accross this in my reading with the LGV although I gather it uses most of the internals of the Century.

Although they would only be used for target, and the occasional spot of vermin, the performance just bothers me a tad.

Any comments or advice would be welcome.

Thanks

Bought my Century .177 second hand from BAR and found it putting out 8ft lbs. I ordered a new spring and seal from armex ( no one else had them ) and after a great deal of difficulty and time finally received and fitted the parts. Its now 11 ft lbs and because of the internal diameter its possible to take it a lot higher. Love the gun its very accurate only wish it had a Record Trigger it would then be even better than a HW80.

Join a airgun forum and ask for genuine reviews off users not the **** you read in a magazine, whos going write the truth about a gun in a magazine? They would get another gun to review.

If it was me i would go with a better quality gun at the begining, air arms pro sport, hw97 or something like that, if you buy a cheapo low quality gun you will only want a better one in a few months, buy a decent one at the begining. Save buying 2.

Hw98 is a superb rifle well done for buying quality..it has the best trigger of any rifle if you ever want it tuning ..get a v-mach. v-glide kit fitted and it will be one of the best, smoothest springers ever made that can be passed on for generations one of the shooters at the gun club I attend has worn out 3 barrals and he can hit single hole standing at 20 yards continuously they are that accurate
