That is fantastic.

Rough cost?

I believe it will be around £4500 total with new clutch etc etc. I am not fully aware of what he may have renewed as I gave him instructions to replace anything he found which needed attention. Any of you who own and love Landies will know they are like big Meccano sets and if the chassis is good then everything else can be replaced fairly easily. I think the pre 1990s models are perhaps the best in this respect because after that the dreaded electronics craze started to take over along with the desire to have the interiors looking like lounge saloons :-) impossible to power wash out.

Well, I was initially very complimentary about the job but I have now found a large number of failures which I have to complete and correct. Finally today discovered that they had failed to secure the petrol line properly and it had dropped onto the hot exhaust melting the in line filter!!. Other problems included breaking the speedo cable, messing up the wiring so the engine temp did not work and now my local engineer has discovered they failed to put the engine and gear box in level which causes the exhaust to hit the chassis and place the down pipes very close to the front drive shaft. I would have been happier if they had spent another 48hrs doing the job properly. It is blatantly obvious they did not do a road tests. Not good.
