saddler
Had an hour or so checking the springers. One of the Vulcans is not cocking (catch not engaging at end of the stroke). How easy are Vulcans to strip? And what should I be looking for regarding the above problem? Another Vulcan has a strange barrel shroud/cover. Seems to be inner aluminum tubing with a plastic outer. The muzzle end has a slightly larger dia., all plastic, which seems to be internally threaded (of sorts, wide coarse pitch). The barrel end is not squared...nor is part of the shroud where it fits at the rear of the barrel (into a domed cap). I'm sure when I got this there was a Parker Hale .22 moderator stuck as a friction-fit in the plastic muzzle section. No idea what make this barrel cover is. Tempted to get it tidied up & get the barrel threaded for the PH, so it'll keep everything together; that or bin it all & just get the muzzle recrowned, or find a proprietary muzzle break. Ideas? Where's the best source for Vulcan stocks? One came to me as just the barreled action. It'd be nice to get it sorted. Are the Vulcan stocks all identical fit-wise? Tried this action in the non-cocker aboves stock. Not a success story, too tight & rear not matching up.
figgy
Usually the trigger sear is not fully coming up the engage with the piston. Nearly 30 years since I had one, still remember the stock bolt used to come loose every 60 shots or so. Mine had a over barrel silencer that worked to a point so long as you were far enough away so you couldn't hear the twang of the internals. Get it stripped down and see if anything stands out is amiss.
saddler
Found out the over-barrel silencer is called the Quantum. Will need to find more info on these as mine is missing the front section. Wonder if spares are available somewhere?
figgy
You can probably still buy a barrel adapter to fit a screwed silencer.
saddler
You can probably still buy a barrel adapter to fit a screwed silencer. Sems that the Quantum is still available new. But not seen any parts of them being available. It's a handy bit if kit but may just thread the barrel 1/2"-20 for a PH type unit; either bare or as an end cap for the Quantum. (Saying that's the name, mine looks different to the present model so it may be another brand altogether)
saddler
More Vulcan news/questions. The carbine I have is fitted with the clamp-fit Webley Pro System silencer. Spotted a photo online of one: it had a standard rearsight, but a modified front sight that fitted on/over the Pro System unit. Anyone seen these modified front sights before?
