ChrisPCarter
I'm selling a 20 bore Mossberg Hushpower but have 500 28 gram Eley Hushpower cartridges left. I'm buying a 20 bore Benelli Montefeltro Beccaccia (Woodcock) inertia driven semi auto and wondered if they are likely to cycle OK in it? Have any of you tried them in a semi auto? If not I may just sell them on. Chris.
Guest cookoff013
no, dont thinkso, my benelli needed punchy shells to get it working, subs dont have the oomph, i tried subs in my 12gauge monty. it was a no-go.
ChrisPCarter
OK thanks, I'll see if I can sell them with the gun or to one of my mates. I've got a 12 bore Raffaello Black, it's a beautiful gun. I fancy the lightweight 24" 20 bore for a bit of hunting in the woods and in the pigeon hide, plus my daughter should be able to handle it quite nicely. basset
Have you tried the 20 bore benelli s they can be very cartridge fussy I have a 12 bore montefeltro and 20 bore montefeltro the 12 is very reliable but the 20 is very cartridge fussy eley express and hull cartridges are a no go but it's fine with cheddite fiocchi and rc and Rottweil it's been back to gmk 3 times and still does not like the British shells my advise would be try before you buy
ChrisPCarter
No I've not tried the Montefeltro 20 but I love the Raffaello so assumed it would be similar. It's down the other end of the country so I haven't been able to have a go and am getting it RFD'd to me. I've been doing a bit of research and hadn't read of any issues with the 20 bore ones. This one is the Woodcock version so I was expecting it would be good with pretty light loads? I don't know if it's the same as the other ones and just made lighter with a shorter barrel and carbon rib or if there is a difference in action, springs etc. On the plus side, it's mainly Fiocchi and RC that I use in the smaller gauges so hopefully it will be OK. I can get Cheddite from my local clay ground but he doesn't keep their 20 gauge stuff in stock, I might get him to order me some in sometime. Their 12 bore stuff is very good but that seems to apply to all the Italian brands and they are a good price.
