After one week of twice daily application of thornite powder to his outer ears after cleaning with a TCP/boiled water solution there is a significant reduction in both discharge and smell and he seems a lot more comfortable, so could be on the right track. bruno22rf Posted June 10, 2018 Report Share Posted June 10, 2018 Just tried "Thornit" powder after wasting £130 over 2 visits to the vet - what an improvement after only 2 applications - mentioned it to our vet and was told that they do not recommend it.....is that because they cannot charge you a fortune for a prescription for it? Clean once a day with a general alcohol based ear cleaner from the vet and ear drops from Pets at home. The latter deal with ear mites as well if needed. Usually clears after a week if you also clean out with facial cleaning pads each day. Important to get rid of the crud whatever method you use. Read this thread and got some Thornit and a makeup brush. Applying Thornit twice a day and it's now improving rapidly and no more head shaking and scratching.
