dustydave
Hi,does anyone have any idea about the upper distance for locating an oil tank from a boiler. I'm trying to push it 40 metres from the boiler (mrs wants it hidden at the bottom of the garden) with the oil tank 1 metre higher, with 6mm pipe. Is this likely to cause any problems? bullet1747
I've had one about that distance about four years ago pipe work tacked to tha wall outlet about two feet above the burner never had a problem with mine
big bad lindz
My tank is actually below the boiler intake, I cant remember the name but there is an item that you install near the boiler that allows this to happen. going to look it up cause it is now bugging me
shootthepigeon
The pump on the boiler will pull up to a metre in height I believe before the need of a tiger loop (de airiater), the pipework should be OK with 10mm Pipe although check the manufacturers instructions for the boiler, as distances can change the pipe size required. four-wheel-drive
One thing to think about do not put it to fare from the road as it will need to be filled my tank and it would be a ****** if you fitted it all up and the tanker pope was not long enough to fill it up. Ours is about 6m from my outside boiler next to the side of the house and about 4m from my house the council did say that it had to be 1m away from the wooden fence between the houses diesel is not very flammable unlike petrol so not much risk of fire it looks like I have a 6mm pipe going to the boiler
seph234
it will all depend on the boiler/pump installed as to what pipe sizing and head you can have. there are ways round it as said earlier with tigerloops etc. also what tank do you have? oowee
Mine is over 40m from the house by the car park for easy tanker deliveries and no probs.

Havn't decided on the tank yet , but if i can put it 40 meters away then it'll save me having to put a fire rated one in to replace the current location (its about 1 metre from the neighbours window)
ferguson_tom
Most tank trucks have a 54m hose. Some have 58 and a couple we used to supply had around 62 but majority were 54.
