old'un
During the last 2 weeks I've been hitting the crows and pigeons on a few sown fields, usually whilst sitting and watching the field you hear and see lots of wildlife activity, the one bird I have not seen or heard for a very long time is the Cuckoo, when I was younger you would always hear them come April. Do you have them in your area?

Konnie
My farther was talking to a picking up friend today and he said he has heard one and seen his first swallow, now a week later than last year's sighting on my patch and not a glimps of a swallow. E.w.
We've got swallow hear in North Wales but don't tend to hear the cuckoo until mid May.
anser2
I have yet to hear one in Norfolk this year ,though it is a touch early , but one was reported yesterday on the Birdline in the Broads. Getting rarer and rarer every year.not so many years ago I once saw 7 in the air at once near Fakenham, Norfolk. I only heard one last spring and then only for one day. A sign of our decling wildlife in the countryside. They feed on large caterpillars , with big moths in decline the lack of caterpillar food drives the cuckoo down with them Edited April 13, 2017 by anser2
