Afternoon all.

I've bitten the bullet at last and got myself a Clumber Pup (I've been smitten since I watched a demo at the CLA Gamefair a few years ago). I am picking her up this Friday,My question is can anybody recommend a trainer in the South East if possible within 25ish miles of Canterbury?.

Cheers

Well done

Lovely dogs never had the bottle to get one though

Best trainer is you mate 😊

I'm assuming you want someone to give you guidance with the training and point out your weaknesses

There a specialist type would recommend asking the breeders or ask at the clumber club

Got a client with one only a year old but awesome dog

Best of luck and enjoy

I've had a clumber spaniel, you are very lucky, they are difficult to come by, great dogs with an exceptional nose you will enjoy every minute of them working for you top tip for be firm with them don't pamper them as they can be a little hard headed.

Yes I am a member of the wcss that's how I've been lucky enough to have the chance of getting her.

she's been a long time in planning, I have selftrained my 3 WCS with success of sorts. Just after a little help and advice when she is ready for a structured/formal education. I am planning on spending most of the summer/autumn in fun mode with a little sit and steadiness when she's ready.

You will not regret it for one second. They are fantastic dogs. Both of my Clumber boys are now retired; one was 12 years old yesterday and the other, although younger, has an ongoing problem (not breed related) that means I don't want to work him too hard so he's taking early retirement. They are really thorough, steady workers and, in my experience, not at all difficult or bloody-minded. You do need to be gentle with them, they do not respond to harsh handling. My two have the sweetest, most loyal natures you could wish for in dog. I'd have another without a second thought.

I've currently got two 22 week old boys to bring on as their replacements. They're not Clumbers though, something a little different this time...
