dodeer
What are the common problems associated with these. Around 110k miles. Landcruiser/ Patrol a better option?
Red-dot
Huge servicing costs annually and poor residuals.
Arley
Driving a disco 3 for 4 years, the first year it was a pain but covered by warranty after that no major problems. Got a local guy who is very good with the spanners and has all the diagnostic kit which is a must as dealer prices are expensive. Looked at trading it in last winter and I was offered a good price against a XC90 but kept the disco as the spec on it was much better and the ride was nicer. ferguson_tom
Turbos are the big thing around that mileage, if its already been replaced it should be fine if it hasn't then save a couple grand back for its replacement. My mate runs an independent landrover garage and makes a bulk of his money on Discovery and Range Rover sport turbos. There is also a pretty hefty service shedule around that time. Think you might be right. Will go for a Patrol as there pretty bombproof
Arley
Check the topcoat finish on Patrols, lad I work with it has got one and its blistering on the roof and bonnet, he uses it for towing a caravan and seems happy with it apart from that. Good luck with your search

Jay_Russell
Had my late 05 d3 HSE a year now an absolutely love it. Torque converter, electric hand brake, and wishbones, oil pump and all belts were done in the year before I bought it. strict maintenance history are essential. They are expensive to run but aslong as any previous owners have looked after it they are no worse than any other 50k motor. I was really put off buying one while researching about all of the problems people Have, then talking to a few people I know with them and to be honest no one had experienced horrendous bills so I went with my heart. So glad I did!
jay404
Make sure the timing belt has been done it is an exspensive job but a necessity also EGR valves Turbo vanes Air suspension Electronic handbrake Rear diff Dual mass flywheel These are all problems I had on a 80k disco 4 in the space of 18 months Personally I'd avoid like the plague even tho they are rather nice to drive
BrowningDJC
My relative had an 08 disco 3 and it owed him thousands, everything electrical that could possibly go wrong did, and a new engine at 70,000 miles. To be honest i dont know anyone with either a disco 3 or 4 that hasnt spent a lot of money in repairs.
