Hello peeps,

I was just wondering if there is anyone out the in PW land that knows anything about wordpress websites and more specifically how to set one up.

I brought a template last year that really suits what I need but just can't get to grips with the format and lay out and the most awkward thing is the template is in latin so you can't interpret what is to be altered because you can't read it!

Anybody anywhere ??

Regards. :hmm:

They use that 'lorem ipsum' latin text just as an example. You should be able to select the text, delete it, then add what you want to put.

Thanks for the reply Thunderbird,

If you look at the site as it is at the moment http://test.cloudninedreamevents.co.uk/wp-admin its just what i want but take the home page for example, you scroll down to the images below the welcome text and I just don't know what they want me to put in there. I love the lay out but just wish I knew what they had in mind for the sections.

Regards.

Happy to have a look if you send me some details - what you have bought,do you have anything online already? What you are trying to achieve?

Cheers

Stu

Hi Stu,

the site is http://test.cloudninedreamevents.co.uk/wp-admin

We have a basic site we've used for years www.cloudnineballoons.co.uk but just want to be more professional and have also now move away from just balloons and into other areas so I brought this template ages ago but due to it being set up in a latin style I can't see what the template is needing me to change.

Regards.

I have plenty of pictures to add the the site and have testimonials and have Facebook and twitter links but am finding it hard to alter the finer parts of the site

The 'latin' text is a nonsensical language which cannot be translated, as mentioned above by Thunderbird, which helps show what the page would look like with text. If you didn't have some kind of text there you'd think the web page had no content and therefore no idea how to lay out text or if it was even possible to have text there. (Your website has borderless text boxes)

If you've got a section written with this text, just look for clues as to what page you're on, or the title text. If you're on /about-us then you're likely going to be writing stuff about the business and your team.

In WordPress you have PAGES, POSTS and WIDGETS in which content can be edited/added, look for those in the DASHBOARD. Open the page you want to edit, it should be obvious where and what needs editing.

However, some themes (X Theme for example) have their own editors, but these would still be visible and selectable when you open the PAGE you want to edit.
