kennett
What could possibly go wrong, a .50 desert eagle and encyclopedia Britannia as a bullet proof vest..... ://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-40438207 Edited June 29, 2017 by kennett

KFC
I use a telephone directory as a pellet trap when I chrono my air rifles. The .177 pellets go through 700 pages so, as has been said, a Desert Eagle v a book
Sha Bu Le
What a crazy thing to do, if she was adamant about not shooting the gun then why did she? or why could they not have tested the book first. May have just changed his mind. 50 cal at one foot would probably have gone through a steel plate and still kill when it came out. Beggars belief. Beggars belief. You would have thought, for the sake of 5mins they would have tested the idea first?! When I was a kid I wanted to know if my steel toe caps were .22 air rifle proof, even at 12yrs old I the sense to take them off first! TIGHTCHOKE
You had steel toe-capped boots at 12?
kennett
Not for long, I wanted to be a real man. But since they don't do 12yr old size boots, they gave me a huge blister and I only wore them for a couple of days.

Sha Bu Le
Apparently they did and it stopped the bullet. Unfortunately though they used a different book in the video. Thanks for that DM had not seen it. Oh dear it gets worse, variables are difficult to allow for. In such a situation there must be a few. Was the book the same thickness or thicker and of the same quality paper and covers? Could the round loads have varied a tad, say one down and one up a smidgen? (home loads maybe). Did she stand further away the first time he/she shot? Must be more if I could be assed to think of some. I don't think Mythbusters will be testing that one. iano
I remember being at a shooting range in the US some years ago and the person beside me was shooting a desert eagle. The shock from the rounds being fired would actually rattle your innards. The shooter was also struggling to hit the end wall of the range. You feel for her and their kids, but jesus that is one of the stupidest things I've ever heard of.
Penelope
Sadly, all part of the 'Look at me', 'Look at me', 'I wanna be famous' social media infatuation that the young seems to have now.
