Nice and a great colour. Make sure you get some sort of security on it ASAP.

Cheers mate, i's booked in tomorrow to have a new alarm on with a few bells and whistles for my peace of mind.

Very nice I do like the seat covers not a big fan of leather/plastic seats makes you sweat in the summer only advantage is leather is simpler to clean.

Yes definitely ideal with the dog, saves messing up the interior, it came with a full set of waterproof seat covers (proper land rover ones) which can't have been cheap so ill chuck them on whenever the dogs in to keep it smart.

Super cool that mate absolutely love the colour

Any idea what mpg is likely to be

Cheers mate, me to! My favourite colour is grey for cars but surprisingly its the first grey car I've owned! Cant wait to give it a polish this weekend.

MPG is somewhere between 25-30 its been remapped which is supposed to have made it 15% more efficient with an extra 30bhp and 40lbs ft torque. Quite pokey actually. Not an issue as my weekend toy only gets 8-10mpg.

Dropped it off early this morning to have the wheels powdercoated gloss black so ill get up some pictures when i pick it up later this afternoon. Bought some new land rover black wheel bolts and some nice 'defender' centre caps which should really set it off. Got a few bits and bobs I'm replacing to really make it stand out also such as the mirror caps, air grills etc and will change the front grille and light surrounds to a KBX type along with LED lights all around.

Quite some plans for it, I didn't intend to i've just been swallowed by the land rover world and can't help it. All tasteful and subtle mind!

Thought I'd get a few pictures up now I've had it in my possession for a week or so.

Done the following:

- Powdercoated Wheels Gloss Black

- Fitted wheels with black wheel bolts and defender centre caps

- Gloss Black Side Vent

- Gloss Black Mirror Caps (original are faded non painted plastic)

- De-Cat and Centre Silencer (purchased fit on Saturday)

- CAT 1 Car Alarm Fitted

- Tracker Fitted

Few more bits and bobs to come mainly comprising of LED lights all around, upgraded front grille and light surrounds which will 'facelift' the front in gloss black. More layers of security 'ardcase pedal lock and steering wheel lock. Gloss black bonnet vent and gloss black snow cowl.

Really happy with the gloss black accents on it, won't go over the top just a nice contrast I think and make it look a little fresher and more modern compared to faded plastic that's been 'back to blacked' within an inch of its life.

Starting a build in the rear loading space at the end of the month too for a storage chest and drawer set will look the bits when I'm done!

Forget the defender, I want to see the weekend toy that gets such amazing fuel consumption!

This is what I was referring to haha!

Mitsubishi Evo VI GSR

It was running speed density/ switchable maps but mainly used in the 1.6bar of boost mode. 402bhp / 428 lbs ft of torque.

Had full rally anti lag launch control and pops and bangs on over run, from 0-60 it was the fastest thing I've ever been in, it defied physics really launching at full boost could barely change gear fast enough, no loss of traction just all grip and go with the AWD. I consistently timed it at 3 seconds 0-60. It easily saw off many high powered cars to 80 or so before they would begin to pull back on it with their bigger engines over the little 2 litre turbo (on private roads of course).

It ate through 2 clutches in my ownership (4 years) as I always seemed to get next to c63's, m3's, m5's etc at the lights so had to launch it of course. Infact here is a video of a launch, ignore the music, a friend edited the original video after watch a fast and furious film I think

Ive actually just sold this as I've come to realise I've outgrown it at 27 years of age, ran it for 4 years and got a lot more than I originally paid for it due to appreciation of them.

The Land Rover is a perfect toy to replace, nice change of pace and lifestyle. The only jap performance car I'll ever consider at the moment would be a R35 GTR 👍

  • 1 month later...

Does anybody have any rear gun storage builds in their defenders or 4x4's?

Going to build my own with a friend and referred to mobile storage solutions etc. but would like to build something bespoke.

Thinking a rear chest that sits from wheel arch to wheel arch with the draw that fills the loading space area and pulls out.

Ideally I can clean the gun post shoot at the back of the wagon then, any ideas would be massively appreciated.

Just like to design in any good ideas so I don't regret post build.

This is an idea I was running with, differing materials etc, and I would actually have the draw form a raised platform level so it sits flush with the tailgate and pulls out so it can be used to work from.

Will be a bit of engineering / design going on with this as a little project for me and a friend.

Lovely 90

With regards gun storage this popped up on facebook today www.gundrawer.co.uk

Lovely bit of kit, don't fancy the £500-600 though but it is lovely! Definitely gives some ideas to work with within the draw itself.

May settle for egg crate lining or a cutout for an abs case to sit snuggly in, unless any companies will cut out bespoke. Hmm ill have to research!

What you need is a built in spaniel box...just saying

Proper cool landy that mate

Hahah i'll have to tow that! Gun storage comes first!

Not really into Landys, but that particular one does appeal i must admit! As for the Evo. Very nice. Has the bonnet had a respray, as looks a shade lighter than the rest of the car. Cracking motor, (Evo) but always preferred the noise of the "Scooby" flat 4. Enjoy, your new toy. :good:

I was less keen on the £13k !!! Still, if the OP is happy

Not cheap nowadays unfortunately but a low mileage example that will see it serve as reliable dog/gun wagon for a few years. Parts always available cheap and easy to fix.

At least he chose a proper engined trattor!!!!

Do I see plate on the rear crossmember? If it was me I would be looking under that!!

I've whipped that off and fortunately it's a new addition, no rust or surface rust. It's coming off permanently soon for a rear NAS Step!

Ps

Re that first pic...with a garden that big I don't know why your looking for a perm

Haha I wish!
