AVB Posted July 1, 2017 Report Share Posted July 1, 2017 I have a 3 year old cocker. Lovely thing but is a bit of a baby! He is dead scared of the vacuum cleaner and this morning was peering around the door watching the wife vacuum. As I walked up behind him I touched him on his back. Well he leapt about two feet off the ground, started running in mid air, came back down paws scrambling for grip on the kitchen floor whilst yelping madly. It was like a cartoon sketch. When he got some traction he bolted past the wife and straight out the back door. He is now sitting in his bed looking rather sheepish. Was I a bad dad? That is exactly the type of situation when even a mild mannered dog could bite purely as a fear reflex without either thinking or meaning too do it It also won't help its fear of the hoover again. When I used to startle my gsd when he was younger and asleep his first reaction was to bite!
