rimfire4969
Down at our ducks today found one dead away from the ponds been eaten lots of feathers around like a sign of a struggle, its bill had been completely removed. Checking around the pen I found another duck still alive with the others but its beak has been ripped off. It dropped into the water and swam away before I could do anything with it. It will obviously die and I will rifle it on the bank later. What would do this to the ducks?
Michael Scotland
Depending on age of your duck if very young rats older bird's mink
rimfire4969
Depending on age of your duck if very young rats older bird's mink These birds are very well grown. I did think Mink but we have never seen a sign of them or even heard of them around here but I have no doubt they are around somewhere. scolopax
Otter, chewing off the bills of live birds is a classic sign of an otter having a bit of fun. Edited July 18, 2017 by scolopax

rimfire4969
There is something wrong when the best case is that it's Mink.
Michael Scotland
Hi Kennett this is why I thought mink as I have never seen a otter chasing a pheasant
