I used to be a bit shaky free hand to start with . Cutting straight line on plate, just clamp a piece of angle on the line butt your torch up to the angle and whizz down the line. LeadWasp Posted July 19, 2017 Report Share Posted July 19, 2017 be careful if you're cutting over a concrete surface that you value (e.g. levelled floor in a workshop)...too close and you'll spall a few mm off the surface and leave a nice gouge. Easy to do if you're cutting farm style resting on the forks of a (tele)handler I always put a sacrificial plate of 2-3mm under the cut. The drier the air the better your consumables will last.
