Hasan Escort MK1 magazine cut off

One of my rabbit permissions wants me to shoot the rabbits when they harvest the rape. I know the bunnies love sitting in the rape and it could be a productive day plus it will help with my rabbiting shotgun skills. I am planning to use my Escort rather than an over and under. What I intend to do is stick two cartridges in the magazine flick the cut off switch on to stop cartridges feeding and cock the action back. This way I can walk around without a loaded gun. A flick of the cut off button will quickly feed in a cartridge and be ready to shoot. My issue is the cut off button is small and stiff and can take a bit of pressure and a knack to flick it off. By then Mr bunny would have made it back home safely. Anyone know of a mod or upgrade to this issue? I am tempted to drill the centre of the button, tap it and screw in a bar. That would make flicking it off quicker and seamless. Any thoughts?

Cheers everyone. As there was two of us shooting whilst the combine was harvesting and I didn't fancy stumbling whilst walking and shooting my mate I opted for the over and under in the end with the barrels broken. As the rabbits broke from the cover of the rape to head to the hedge line their ability to run was slow. The rape stubble stalks made their progress slow so it was easy to close the gun and shoot. First pass of the combine was tricky as we had two run at full pelt for cover and our window to shoot was about 12foot so no joy on the first two but as the combine passed a few times there was a good distance to the hedge line and we bagged a few. It was great fun and a nice way to spend an evening. I might stick up the video that I took though I didn't manage to film and shoot at the same time. I need to grow a third hand for that :-)

Sounds like a good day.

I don't choose the OU over the auto for safety reasons incidentally as I sometimes walk with it loaded and closed, safety off, in certain situations, but rather so I don't have to keep stopping to look for and then pick up ejected cases.

Each to their own. 👍 Bolting bunnies is one of my favourite types of shooting. Glad you enjoyed it.
