Work colleague has one of these, and she has come close to knocking someone down twice, so deadly silent could become very true a statement. People do not hear and do not look, both occasions the pedestrian have just stepped out unaware.

As has been said before it would not be much of a problem for the car makers to make some sort of a noise generator much like we did with the old push bikes when we was kids a bit of card that hit the spokes as the wheel turns. :good: :good:

This would cause resistance meaning more power would be used from the battery, causing miles per charge to reduce

Why have the government abandoned plans to electrify several train lines , instead opting for 'Hybrid /Diesel ?

Then tell us our dirty diesel and petrol cars will have to go .

I work at Manchester airport, and the air is sometimes thick with the smell of aviation fuel.(cough) Also , recently ,There was a program on the TV

Highlighting how diesel ,now powers everything worldwide trains , ships. heavy plant.etc etc.

Usually , when a government announces something like this , its simply to divert attention away from some 'skullduggery' they are up to.!

And the ships and the plant machinery etc. Even if they do achieve all of this ..... will they build a dome over the U/K to stop other countries pollution reaching us. its all bullshine the Germans have built six new coal burning power stations.

Germany has vast seams of lignite which is a you type of coal that's brown. They're using what they have to hand, only this country is daft enough to pander to any and all.

If you fly to Arizona from New York or Chicago you spend hours flying over an enormous desert wilderness where temperatures run over 100 degrees every day. They could generate enough solar electricity there alone to power the world. One big massive solar farm

Africa is in the same situation, huge tracts of land not being used, and Australia too. If they can run phone lines around the world why not power cables?

Electricity generated by coal fired power stations?

Yes indeed. We have again given in and been told by other countries that we need to close our coal fired power stations, the same countries that either, power themselves very nicely by nuclear (nothing wrong with nuclear).Or open new coal fired power stations with the justification that theirs are cleaner than ours were. Carbon catching technology is out there, all we need to do is perfect it and make the coal fields of the UK prosperous again bringing wealth and standard of living back to much needed areas. As for not having enough electricity, this is all down to our governments knee jerk reaction to being told to close our power stations, only to import electricity from those countries, on top of this we are being told that we have to generate a proportion of our demand by building wind farms and solar, in areas where the infrastructure has to be massively boosted to carry the electricity to areas where it is needed, again costing US BILLIONS (again going to foreign companies). When this is all sorted out then we can charge our smart cars.

very sorry for the rant.

The latest thing is the Americans are planing on bringing in new laws that will stop Europe buying gas from Russia if they /we do buy Russian gas the Americans will fine us/them but looking on the bright side the Americans will sell us some of the shail gas that they have to much of.

A neighbour had a vintage (1930s) Rolls Royce. That was really unbelievably quiet; He used to sneak up behind people in car parks ...... then blow the very loud horn - Klaxon type

How cynical ! Think of the polar bears man !

Joking apart, its just part of the massive clean energy/carbon reduction scam, rather than the 'temperatures might rise 0.1 % in 50 years time' its ' 40,000 people a year definitely will not die if we do this ' scenario.

The energy elites will be laughing their socks off..

People keep rattling on about how bad Diesel engines are for the environment.

My answer is quite simple, take a look around you, nearly every item is delivered by lorries, imagine the price of everyday items if they were delivered by a petrol lorry!

I've driven a diesel car for 27 years, it'll take a lot to stop me doing so in the future.
