Think of doing something for the boot of my Q7 hold waterproofs cleaning kit cartridges drinks etc. Who's done what and any top tips? Walker570 Posted September 17, 2017 Report Share Posted September 17, 2017 Obviously every application is different, but your comment on 'ply' is important. My suggestion is use the best you can afford, don't cut corners. I built a false floor over the lpg tank in the rear well of my LR90. and when measuring up realised there was a large area to the rear which could be used, so I hinged the rear two thirds for access. I left the wheel arch tops clear and found plastic storage boxes which snugly fit in there for all the bits and pieces a shooter/countryman carries. Material, and this goes back to ply. I found that I had a very old table top in my workshop which fitted the space perfectly, 3/4 inch good quality ply and a varnished finish. I cut it at the point I needed the hinge to go, so it would fold completely back flat so I could still get some pretty large items in there when needed, but with it down it covered any valuable items from prying eyes. OK, I know this doesn't relate to your vehicle, but do as I did and stand back a bit before starting construction, think it through and don't skimp on the materials.
