matgriff
I bought a good used A301 semi auto. I stripped it and cleaned it. I cleaned the piston and barrel and all the mechanism, but how exactly do you clean the gas ports ? I've read that it's important to keep these clean on a semi auto. Thanks

TIGHTCHOKE
For other guns I use a drill bit of the correct diameter, but even a bent paper clip will help loosen any stubborn carbon.
matgriff
I did look on you tube, couldn't see anything for the older Baretta's but I'll look again, thx Mat
Me matt
Yes - very important to keep those ports clean. I use a bit of copper wire on mine, stripped earth wire from some three core I had laying around. Its about 12" long with a tear drop bend on the end, stores lovely in my cleaning kit box. Highlandladdie
I use pipe cleaners
sishyplops
I use a thin diamond file , round one about 4mm, gently poke it through the holes and clean out the carbon, can use pipe cleaners as above if you clean regularly
Stimo22
this is going to sound strange but if you pop into boots and look in the dental section, they sell something called "interdental Brush" in different sizes. I nick the wifes , they are really useful. Have the 0.7mm ones on the desk now and use for all sort of things, as long as you dont then use to clean teeth
GingerCat
Pipe cleaners if your must or an ear bud reaches.
Mr.C
Agree with the correct sized drill bit so long as you're not too aggressive.
matgriff
OK, thanks for the help here, I figured it out... I took a closer look (with a torch & my reading glasses on) and realised that the hole in the block is opposite the two gas port holes :-) so a straight run to clean them. Cleaned them out with a piece of stiff wire and Napier gun cleaner.. TBH they were pretty clean anyway Mat
