Gun Watch Posted November 29, 2017 Report Share Posted November 29, 2017 Dickson, John & Son Round Action (Assisted Opening) 12 Bore Side by Side £4,995 12 gauge Shotgun Trade Seller Used - Excellent Condition Edinburgh, Midlothian Side by Side, 1/4 Choke, 1/2 Choke, 28" barrels Description John Dickson Round Action (Assisted Opening) 12 Bore Side by Side Commissioned on Aug 12th 1897 for Mr Keith Maitland, this is a fine example of John Dickson and Sons patented Round Action side by side. This example is number 2 of a pair, the top lever and barrel engraved with the number 2 and inlaid “SAFE” in gold at the thumb lever, fore-end inlaid with a Silver “2” in the wood. Forend and flats marked “Patent 652” indicating the 652nd Round Action made. Sleeved to a very high standard and reproved at 3 ¼ Tonnes, thought to have been done in Edinburgh in the late 1960s. The bore and condition is excellent. All the costly work to allow this gun to outlive its next owners and shoot modern cartridges well into the next century has been done for you. Bright Action with fine Acanthus engraving with "John Dickson & Son, Patent" in a banner on sides of action Straight hand grip, splinter forend with Anson release Vacant Gold oval in stock Stock has been lengthened to 15 ½” with a fine Walnut extension Tight on face and throughout, top lever sitting very slightly right of centre. Serviced and Re-Blacked by John Dickson and Sons in 2013 -18ct Gold Cocking Indicators -Assisted Opening action - 6lb 9oz -28” barrels -2 ¾” chambers - Choked ¼r and ½l - 15 ½” Length of Pull - 3/8” Cast - 2 ¼” Drop at Heel - 1 ¾” Drop at Comb £4995 This gun is being sold by Pigeon Watch member Edinburgh Rifles.
