Yes I’ve had new springs put in but that was ages ago and been ok until now even though not used it for a bit.

Might have loosened up over time or do a knocking or dropping it etc

have you still got the set? Try a higher pull spring and see if it sorts it

hello, as other members have said it might be if you have had the spring changed it may have been to softer version, most 455 owners have changed from the original that gave a very hard pull by buying a trigger kit which has 3 springs eg soft/medium/hard, then fitting the medium as i have done also, seems a bit pointless having to buy the kit for 1 spring, i am sure some PW members have tried to find a source  for this middle spring but have not heard if any luck. , also you mention some crud !!!!, i also find after using 50/100 bullets you can get tiny brass fragments in the breech which you can use a  vacuum cleaner to suck out, i also clean off the waxy film on the RWS subs i use with white spirit

I'm no expert but surely if the gun fires when you close it quickly, but not slowly, then the firing pin could be sticking inside the bolt?

hello, forgot to mention that bruno, it may be another thing to look at, i use a very fine gun oil spray to keep the pin lubed

On reflection - the firing pin should not be there should it - the trigger sear would catch it as the bolt is moved forward so more likely a trigger sear problem - has it started happening since the weather got colder? - could be grease/oil on the sear becoming thick/gummy due to low temperatures.
