Rust in choke?

Hello all,

I've just cleaned my gun, and found what looks like rust in the end of one of the barrels. I've run a finger nail over it, and can't detect any roughness or diffrence in the surface of the metal as I would expect with rust - but its enough to (unduly???) concern and irritate me.

Anyone confirm it on way or the other to put my mind at ease?

Many thanks,

Oil up a rag and give it a good wipe round. Maybe a bit of brillo pad cut to size. Any rust/dirt/baked on oil and grime  should come off.

I suspect it's a bit of dirt or whatever and wouldn't lose any sleep over it. Just oil the threads lightly and clean every time you go shooting or one day your multi choke may become a fixed choke.

Judging from the photograph I don’t think that’s a multi choke.

Green scotch bright and oil it will soon disappear. I’ve found by polishing the interior of the barrel it marks a lot less and you don’t get the rust marking like yours has. You could have a gunsmith polish the interior of the barrels for you. Make sure you mop the barrels with a light oil before putting your gun away.

I had an old AYA over and under Yeoman that would rust before your eyes in damp weather. Wiping with oil cured it.
