Real emergency services car or not

Travelling round the M25 tonight i had blue flashing lights set in a radiator grill behind me. I'd moved over after spotting them a few cars back. As it went past, i noticed it had no markings and the blue lights flashing at the rear were where the indicators should have been. It was a 13 plate Quashqui/Hyundai shaped vehicle.

Having see the worst fake ever some years ago on the M42 I just wondered if this a a fake or real.

Nowadays you can't tell an unmarked car unless you are up close or they turn the lights on.

I saw some specialist team go past on the m6 the other day made up of audi RS6, BMW m5, and meredes amgs 5 motors in total all black/dark grey estates followed by a specced up vito van. Went past me well into 3 figures and not much gap between them.

Police cars used to be fairly 'basic' models (escorts, marinas and allegros).  Nowadays as local policing has decreased they usually have BMWs and 4 x 4s.

Ah yes, the Marina TC and the Allegro 1750cc. probably the WORST cars that I ever had the misfortune to drive  !

Thinking about it the blue light was faster than the car.

I saw 3 unmarked cop cars in convoy on the M1 about 6 months ago a VW Transporter van with motorway maintenance markings, a mini and another  car that I can’t recall but all three looked very ordinary and you would look twice at them unless the blues and twos were on.

Wife and son have seen the police use plain old Honda Civic like an old persons model not a type r. They’ve used all manner of ordinary cars and when they have a sting on you see them surrounding a car all lights flashing. Nice to make a mental note of the cars.

Locally all the new unmarked cars are Skoda Octavia’s or Other vag cars all with NX prefixes so most people keep an eye out for them.

I would say it's likely to be a doctor. There is one in my village that has a Mini Cooper and her lights are in the the grill and indicators.

And not only that, why would they be hidden?

Sounds normal, get a lot going past where i work, see all sorts from a 55plate Corsa that I see frequently to a new jag. They had (not sure if it's still about) a fireblade, only thing that was a tell tail was the fold over flap on the guys jacket covering his number and the 'policeblade' sticker it had on the front fairing  ask me how I know :lol:

Green on hospital or gp work, blue if dispatched by the ambulance service.

A mate used used to do bits of prehospital work on blues, again wired up concealed to avoid water trickling down the wire to a magnetic roof light or drilling his BMW roof. His car was taken away and wired up by whichever contractor the charity he did it for chose.

I thought they got rid of greens because it was too confusing to have different colours of emergency service,

some rude boy pulled outof a petrol station in leeds the other month into heavy traffic and turned on his ebay special blue and red dash light to try and get through the traffic and fooled exactly zero people. Didnt have enough time to get the reg and report him.

This was a clip off of Facebook today, thought I’d share as it’s sum what Relevant

1.00pm in the afternoon, and Lauren was driving to visit a friend, when an UNMARKED police car pulled up behind her and put its lights on. Lauren's parents have 4 children (of various ages) and have always told them never to pull over for an unmarked car on the side of the road, but rather wait until they get to a service station, etc.
So Lauren remembered her parents' advice, and telephoned 112 from her mobile phone.
This connected her to the police dispatcher she told the dispatcher that there was an unmarked car with a flashing blue light behind her and that she would not pull over right away but wait until she was in a service station or busy area.
The dispatcher checked to see if there was a police car where she was and there wasn't and he told her to keep driving, remain calm and that he had back-up already on the way.
Ten minutes later 4 police cars surrounded her and the unmarked car behind her.
... One policeman went to her side and the others surrounded the car behind.
They pulled the guy from the car and tackled him to the ground........the man was a convicted rapist and wanted for other crimes.
I never knew that bit of advice, but especially for a woman alone in a car, you do not have to pull over for an UNMARKED car.
Apparently police have to respect your right to keep going to a 'safe' place.
You obviously need to make some signals that you acknowledge them I.e., put on your hazard lights) or call 112 like Lauren did.
Too bad the mobile phone companies don't give you this little bit of wonderful information.
So now it's your turn to let your friends know about 112 (112 is an emergency number on your mobile that takes you straight to the police because 999 does not work if you have no signal).
This is good information that I did not know!

Please pass on to all your friends, especially any females
