Real emergency services car or not

What a complete crock of $#17!!

You have no 'right' to pull over in a 'safe place'. Your expected to stop when & where directed to do so and your mobile won't work if you have no signal, regardless of the number you punch in!

God, I hate the mindless drivel circulated as fact on Facebook...this is up there with don't flash your headlights at a car driving without its headlights on at night, 'cos its a gang initiation & they're going to kill you!

Deep breaths & relax...

I realise pantomime season may be over, but oh yes it is!

This an apocryphal tale, originating in America & has been doing the rounds in almost this exact format for over 15  years. It has been noted as false on various hoax exposing web sites. They all go on to say that although the phone numbers indicated invariably change, they are often not the correct or most appropriate number (911, 999, 112 etc.) to call.

So if you need an adult fairy story to caution you to use your common sense, then great...but this is as factual as Humpty Dumpty...

Though I agree with what you have said, this remark is somewhat untrue. Dependent on network, if your carrier doesn’t have signal in that area and another network does you can still connect. If there is no signal at all for all networks then you will not get through.

I saw some specialist team go past on the m6 the other day made up of audi RS6, BMW m5, and mercedes amgs 5 motors in total all black/dark grey estates followed by a specced up vito van. Went past me well into 3 figures and not much gap between them.

I would suggest this convoy might have started near Hereford?

When those guys refuel their helicopters they don't even get out - just sign a clipboard handed through the side window. Then they fly off at 50ft agl - just for fun.

Glad they on our side.

Green on hospital or gp work, blue if dispatched by the ambulance service.

A mate used used to do bits of prehospital work on blues, again wired up concealed to avoid water trickling down the wire to a magnetic roof light or drilling his BMW roof. His car was taken away and wired up by whichever contractor the charity he did it for chose.

WB thanks for that information.  Sounds like there is no real plan for how this should be set up eh?  I would have thought making it clear so the public at large can identify what it is would have helped - but no.

Thanks anyway.

I wasn't talking about the tale of the rapist / murderer etc but about the fact it would seam you think you should  pull over for anyone that happens to have a blue light on their car. You don't, if  you have reason to believe the person trying to pull you over is not a cop.

... But it's illegal to use a mobile that you have to touch to use alone in a car these days - innit.

Not in an emergency and dealing 999 /112 in these circs will be ok.

phoning auntie Mable for advice would not be ok though

Err...no, I've never said that, and thanks for stating the bleedin obvious!

I'm just stunned that grown men & women promulgate this drivel as fact without a seconds thought to checking its voracity.

It's a fairy story!!! If an adult needs someone to explain to them that they shouldn't pull over for an unmarked vehicle if they fear its nefarious & what actions they should take to protect themselves in such circumstances, then they shouldn't be allowed out on their own!

I see some humour in your posts along with strong opinions.

However should you continue to reach for the dictionary to impress us with long words you could at least spell them correctly....you perhaps meant ‘veracity’ not ‘voracity’.

Also, on a question of correctness it should be "without a second thought" i.e relating to an action and not "seconds" relating to time.

I’m impressed that a mobile can’t call 999 without a signal but can call 112. Impressive stuff

If you have no network coverage from your your own network but another newtwok has coverage ie you are with Vodafone and there’s no coverage but there is on 02, your Vodafone mobile will automatically jump onto the 02 network for either a 999 or 112 call.  There is no difference between dialling either number, they will both go through to the same call handling system with no priority been given to one over the other, they are effectively the same number. 112 was introduced as it is the standard emergency number for Europe. What is worth noting is that there isn’t a way of the emergency services calling you back if your phone has used another network so if you do make an emergency call under these circumstances don’t expect they can get back in touch so you may have to call 999 or 112 again if you need to convey further information or get an update.

you can also pre register with both numbers for texting the emergency services, this is particularly useful if you shoot in areas with very patch coverage from any network as there’s often more chance of the text getting through as opposed to trying to have a broken conversation .

I did indeed mean veracity and 'seconds' was careless...thank you. 8/10 for spelling & grammar duly noted. I'd like to think however, that had I bothered my @&$3 to reach for a dictionary, even I'd have managed to copy it correctly! I must confess my punctuation can sometimes let me down too & I'm not yet sure where I stand on the Oxford comma...

If it had the lights but no siren i'd be inclined to believe it wasn't genuine. I've seen a few chavs near where I work with flashing blues set in the grill, but they have none on the side, rear and no siren. Surprisingly people still get out of their way (they use them to blow through red lights)

What a bunch of scrotes (though at least two colleagues were specced out with blues all round but no siren for legit work).

They had (not sure if it's still about) a fireblade, only thing that was a tell tail was the fold over flap on the guys jacket covering his number and the 'policeblade' sticker it had on the front fairing  ask me how I know :lol:

policeblade, thats pathetic isnt it. Shows the mentality of some of them
