Bearmach are uk (I think) they don’t make parts but supply oem and pattern like britpart.

if you want a laugh, go to lrdirect and have a look at the prices as they list pattern, oem and genuine under the part number. There were some bsf bolts I needed for the gearbox, genuine was £70 and pattern was £3.

A good friend of mine queried a very expensive service bill for his disco and asked for an itemised list of parts and labour . One of the things the main stealer listed was £9-50 to stamp the service book . He never went back to them again and used JSF instead .

that is appal;ling.....................................the first new disco i had the flexi coupling vibrated and made a noise...so i took it in under warranty....they changed it ..it was fine and sent me a bill for £600.00 odd quid...saying as it wasnt part of the engine train and part of the exhaust system it wasnt covered by warranty....................i had words with them...no charge

the flexi coupling was 5" long and joined the manifold to the exhaust....£483 quid !!!!!.....yeah right.......

they're all at it, vw wanted £1200, yes you read right that's one thousand two hundred pounds just to supply me a caddy fuel pump, injectors were a snip at a shade over £400 each, I haven't found a local supplier for pattern parts so i'm relying on ebay, managed to get the same pump for £400 and rebuilt injectors for £90 each, still a bloody fortune though. if it goes wrong again i'll have to resort to a shop bike

I worked for Volvo a long time ago, a supplier came into the market selling Bosch starter motors which were the same as Volvo ones, simply because Bosch made them for Volvo.

There was a big meeting about this as they were going to do us a huge amount of damage, I asked why our starter motors were so expensive. The answer was that, in Sweden they buy Bosch starter motors, they sell them to the European distribution centre  with a mark up to pay for the running costs of the Swedish global distribution centre. The European distribution centre sold the starter motor to the UK distribution centre but they needed a mark up to pay for the European distribution centre. The UK distribution centre then sold it to us, but they needed a mark up to pay for the UK distribution centre.  Then I sold it to the customer and we made a mark up!

This gives you an idea why a vehicle manufacturer part is more expensive!

In the process of changing the blower motor on my x trail, my local Nissan dealer wanted £460 for the part and I paid £31 online.  The dealerships must be missing out on a lot of part sales through greed.

agreed ....but the trouble is most of the driving public dont know any differant.........and so they accept it..............

My daughter took her Hyundai Getz to a main dealer within its 5 year warranty as it had a warning light on. They said It was a sensor fault and was an engine out under warranty job. The next day they phoned and said the clutch was gone and it would cost £600. I went with her to the dealer and demanded to to see the worn out 35000 mile clutch. At first they said it had been disposed of, but demanding the service managers attention soon found it (not even slightly worn out) I phoned the importer and it transpired that the dealer was charging them for the engine out job and trying to charge my daughter also for the engine out job. Needless to say we eventually got an apology and a brand new clutch as compensation. That dealer is no longer a Hyundai main dealer.

I have a couple of landrover specialists near me, they are only good for if I'm really desperate as their prices are a rip off.

Paddocks in Matlock if I want loads of stuff I go there, I once needed a set of big end shells, local specialist (Huddersfield) £30, Paddocks £6 same make'

at the time I drove down to Matlock in my car and even with petrol I still saved over £15 plus I bought some other stuff while I was there.

Recently I went to the same local place for small selection of bits, Paddocks would have been £6 their total came to £15.

When he told me the price I said WHAT!!!!, then he started messing in computer and came back with £9.50.
