Car advice wanted

Hi all I'm looking to change my car this year and need some help.   I want a 4x4 or a pickup as I love them and need space for dogs and shooting and fishing but I do 30k a year up and down the motorway to work and back so do I

A.  Forget about a 4x4 and get an estate car.

B. Get a small car to use for work like a diesel fiesta that will do a million mpg and get a truck. Or

C. Just get the most fuel efficient 4x4 I can afford.

TIA

Matt

I bought a shogun sport just for the shooting and fishing, was cheap enough I thought, just sailed through its MOT with no advisorys, between 24 (towing) and 29mpg,  great for the dogs, doesn't matter about the mess,

e class estate for the motorway/long distance travelling, and when she has the posh frock on, best I've had 51.5mpg there and back journey to doveridge

friend has a Subaru outback, 2.5 I think, impressed with that, quick and quiet, 5 labs and a spaniel in the cage and that has the back seats up

These threads are funny. It’s each owner / user of a particular car / truck insisting theirs is the best option but without any evidence

Indeed, without wishing to be rude some of the suggestions / assertions put forward seem to me to be rather ambitious to say the least

I run my own cars for work at 30k+/year, just done another 3 years in another 3.0 Hilux which averaged 31.2 mpg (every mile and litre of fuel logged and mpg calculated, Yorkshire man you see!) that's just short of £6000 of fuel per year...

I  now run an Audi A4 190 black edition 2.0 diesel (can get them 4wd if required) same fuel logging etc averaging 51 mpg, on target this year to use £3500 in fuel and its far better to drive comfortable etc.

£2500 will buy and run a decent 4x4 for pleasure... it runs my old Hilux just for shooting with cash to spare...

Cheers Nev
