My car had the death sentence pronounced on it yesterday by the garage - not worth repairing anymore - so had to clear all my stuff out today ready for the scrap company lorry.  Found my self getting a bit emotional, not like me at all.  I can shoot game without a second thought, but here was I getting emotional at the impending loss of an inanimate piece of metal.  Someone at work said it is emotional as each vehicle holds particular memories, holidays, kids growing up etc.   We've had it over 7 years and hardly had any trouble with it.  :unhappy:

Replace it with a Honda CRV, should be good for the next 14 years then  !

Years ago in a folk club I swapped a VW Beetle for an Austin coach built camper ,the wife wept when she first saw it, it was so ugly I had one of those silly windscreen stickers made "THE UGLY TRUCKLING", after thousands of miles & many holidays in Grantown On Spey she wept again when it finally went. Wish I had it now! (Still got the wife!)

Older vehicles have character, good points, often lots of bad points, but they all add up to an emotional connection. Ask any VW air cooled owner and they will start the discussion with the car/campers name. Surely some or a lot of you must have attachment to a gun, especially an old hammer?
