Catamong Posted March 9, 2004 Report Share Posted March 9, 2004 Johnny, One thing that you'll notice is that the area is awash with Red Kites - you probably don't see many of them in sunny Basildon - they look like a cross between a Kestrel and a buzzard - but they have a forked tail. Pubs... there are quite a few around here that are good. In Watlington you've 3. CHequers (foody) Fox and Hounds (Beer/food) and Curly's (can't remember the real name of it, that's the landlords name, but everyone calls it Curly's) Which is a beer pub (you seriously don't need to dress up to go in there! There's the Fox and Hounds at the top of Watlington Hill, in Christmas Common. It's got a new Restaurant Area, and a real "traditional" drinking area. There are loads as I say. You will however have to learn to drink "Brakspears" bitter, which is the local brew. Failure to do so, will have you marked as an "outsider"! It's a great area, hope you enjoy it.
